Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met with Admiral Brad Cooper, the newly appointed Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), along with his delegation and the U.S. Embassy’s Charg© d’Affaires in Baghdad. The meeting focused on enhancing security and military collaboration between Iraq and the United States.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions included evaluating the progress made in combating terrorism and the implementation of the Joint Declaration signed in September 2024. Both parties reiterated their commitment to adhering to the agreement’s provisions.

The dialogue emphasized the need to continue bilateral security cooperation and expand the partnership to serve the mutual interests of both nations. Al-Sudani highlighted the positive outcomes of the Iraqi-U.S. partnership, which have bolstered security and stability locally, regionally, and internationally.

Admiral Cooper acknowledged Iraq’s significant role in counter-terrorism efforts and expressed CENTCOM’s dedication to building on previous successes and enhancing strategic cooperation in future endeavors.
