Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has ordered the establishment of a high-level investigative committee to look into allegations of corruption involving the mixing and smuggling of crude oil and petroleum products. This directive comes amidst concerns about illicit activities occurring in Iraqi ports and within the country’s territorial waters.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sudani emphasized that there will be no leniency in addressing these allegations. The committee, comprising members from relevant authorities, has been tasked with conducting a thorough investigation. Upon completion, the committee is expected to present its findings and recommendations to the Council of Ministers. The council will then decide on appropriate measures to support the national economy and safeguard public funds.
