Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani directed today the removal of all obstacles hindering the implementation of energy projects across the country, emphasizing the need for swift execution and close monitoring of project progress. The directive came during his chairmanship of the regular meeting on Ministry of Oil projects, attended by the Minister of Oil, deputy ministers, senior ministry staff, and a representative from the Ministry of Electricity.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting discussed project details listed on the agenda, current work procedures, and the importance of immediate solutions to enhance production levels. Al-Sudani noted significant progress, stating that 14 major projects have been completed, while work continues on 19 others. Key completed projects include: Al-Faihaa Field, the crude oil pipeline to the Baghdad network, two gas compressors in East Baghdad, Phase II of the Artawi Complex, the Halfaya Gas Treatment Project, rehabilitation of the North Refineries, and the FCC Unit at Basra Refineries.

The meeting also addressed several strategic initiatives such as the common seawater pipeline project and treatment station, exploratory well drilling, the completion of Al-Sabba and Al-Lehais oil fields, the development of the Artawi Complex, and marine pipelines to boost oil exports from Basra. Discussions included progress on the third offshore pipeline project, the Nasiriyah crude oil development, the Faw storage facility, the rehabilitation of the northern system, the Nasiriyah gas processing complex, development of the Mansouriya Field, and the construction of fuel storage tanks and additional LPG capacity along the Baghdad-Diyala lines, as well as the FCC project at South Refineries.

On the gas production and development front, the meeting covered the Halfaya-Basra gas pipeline, the Karbala Refinery-Karkh storage pipeline, the Abu Ghraib-Baghdad LPG pipeline, and ongoing operations in Northern Oil Company fields in cooperation with BP, along with updates on Ajil and Qayyarah fields, the Basra-Haditha pipeline, tank farm and artificial island projects, and the latest developments on the floating platform. As part of the government’s digital transformation and governance efforts in the oil sector, updates on the implementation of POS systems and electronic payment cards at fueling stations were also discussed.
