Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has confirmed ongoing substantial government support for Iraq’s sports sector, emphasizing the advancement of sports projects and programs designed to enhance sports facilities.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani made these remarks during a meeting with Aqil Muftan, the newly elected Chairman of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee. The Prime Minister congratulated Muftan on his recent victory as Chairman of the Executive Office of the National Olympic Committee, following elections that took place last Saturday.
Al-Sudani reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting national teams and athletes across various sports and competitions. He highlighted the “Olympic Champion” project established under the current government, which aims to nurture and develop athletes capable of competing at the Olympic level.
