Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector in all its aspects. A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office stated that Al-Sudani received a group of farmers and agricultural workers from Wasit Governorate on Wednesday, in the presence of the head of the Provincial Council, Ali Hussein Sulaiman, and Governor Mohammed Jamil Al-Mayah.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani emphasized the importance of agriculture, highlighting it as a priority for the government and a crucial component of economic reform. He praised the responsibility shown by farmers and reiterated the government’s ongoing support, including efforts to find solutions to obstacles faced by the sector. This commitment is underscored by the Cabinet’s recent decision to amend the agricultural plan for the current wheat season.

Al-Sudani also underscored the government’s dedication to Iraq’s development, supporting various societal segments and implementing strategic projects to bolster the economy and improve living conditions, with a particular focus on food security.

A delegation of farmers and peasants from Wasit Governorate thanked the Prime Minister for his initiatives to enhance the agricultural sector. They acknowledged the Cabinet’s decision to amend the wheat season plan to include lands outside the original plan and to allocate financial resources for wheat marketed from these areas.
