Baghdad: Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed that terrorist plots do not represent any religion or sect, stressing that terrorist organizations have committed crimes against humanity and against all Iraqis.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office stated that Al-Sudani met with a group of wounded heroes from the Iraqi armed forces in all their formations and branches, including the Ministries of Defense and Interior, the Counter-Terrorism Service, the Popular Mobilization Forces, the National Security Service, and the Iraqi National Intelligence Service. The meeting marked the eighth anniversary of Victory Day over terrorism and the defeat of the ISIS gangs.

Al-Sudani praised the sacrifices made by the fighters, noting their actions as a significant chapter in Iraq’s history. He congratulated them on their victory, explaining that terrorist plots targeting Iraq began in 2003 by groups that do not represent any religion or sect and committed crimes against humanity. He added that Iraq has exposed the true nature of these groups to the world.

The Prime Minister highlighted the historic fatwa issued by the Supreme Religious Authority in Najaf, which called upon all citizens to unite and confront terrorism. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the battles of liberation as a major national achievement.

Al-Sudani expressed pride in the security forces, noting that Victory Day should be commemorated and taught to future generations. He stressed its significance in modern Iraqi history and its impact on the country’s development, reconstruction, and building efforts.

He noted the progress in Iraq over the past three years, including political, security, social, and economic stability. Al-Sudani affirmed the contributions of all security force branches in defeating ISIS and stressed the state’s commitment to supporting the families of martyrs and the wounded.

He directed authorities to address any deficiencies in services provided to the wounded and families of martyrs, emphasizing the government’s commitment to securing the rights of security personnel. This includes the allocation of residential land plots and improving living conditions, with efforts already underway in Baghdad and other provinces.
