Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed Iraq's commitment to advancing and developing the work of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani's media office stated in a press release that the Prime Minister met with the Director-General of the OIC Office, Mohammed Samir al-Naqshbandi, to discuss the challenges facing the Islamic world and ways to unify efforts to address them.

Al-Sudani emphasized Iraq's commitment to strengthening the OIC's role in addressing the current challenges facing Islamic countries. He highlighted the need for urgent action to defuse crises and establish security and stability in the region. He also pointed to the necessity of enhancing coordination and communication among member states to protect common interests, reiterating Iraq's support for the OIC's activities in serving the Islamic peoples and fulfilling their aspirations.

The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate with the Director-General of the OIC Office to hold a virtual session of the Executive Council of the OIC member states to discuss current regional events.

Meanwhile, Naqshbandi affirmed Iraq's role as a fundamental and active supporter of the OIC's efforts, expressing hope for Iraq's continued active participation in preserving the security and stability of the Islamic nation and unifying efforts to confront growing challenges.
