Al-Sudani Reaffirms Iraq’s Support for Lebanon’s Security and Sovereignty

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has reaffirmed Iraq's unwavering commitment to supporting Lebanon, emphasizing the importance of its security and sovereignty. The statement came following a phone call between Al-Sudani and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, during which they explored ways to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation across various fields that benefit both nations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister's Media Office released a statement highlighting Iraq's dedication to maintaining its principled stance regarding Lebanon. Al-Sudani condemned the violations against Lebanese territory and urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in addressing these issues.

During the conversation, President Aoun expressed his congratulations to Al-Sudani on the successful hosting of the Arab and Development Summits in Baghdad. He praised the initiatives supporting joint Arab action, particularly acknowledging Iraq's supportive position towards Lebanon. Aoun also appreciated Al-Sudani's initiative at the Arab Summit in Baghdad, which proposed the establishment of an Arab Solidarity Fund for the reconstruction of Lebanon and Gaza.
