Al-Sudani Receives Official Invitation to Italy for Strategic Talks

Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has been officially invited to visit Italy, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the invitation was extended during a meeting between Prime Minister al-Sudani and the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Nicolo Fontana. The ambassador congratulated al-Sudani on his new role, expressing hopes for success in his tenure. The discussions during their meeting centered on enhancing bilateral relations and supporting joint cooperation across various fields and sectors. Additionally, the leaders addressed regional developments, focusing particularly on the situations in Syria and the ongoing ceasefire efforts in Gaza and Lebanon. Ambassador Fontana reiterated Italy's invitation to al-Sudani, with the intention of establishing a strategic agreement akin to those Iraq has recently signed with France and the United Kingdom.
