Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomatic channels in resolving conflicts during a meeting with US Special Envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack. The discussion highlighted the need for addressing deep-rooted problems with fundamental solutions to prevent aggression and violations of sovereignty in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office released a statement noting that the meeting took place on Sunday. The discussions covered bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States, the current situation in the region, and Iraq’s ongoing efforts to support regional stability, particularly in Syria.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on preventing regional escalation. Both parties underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in conflict resolution, and explored opportunities for economic cooperation and support for comprehensive development to promote long-term stability.

Al-Sudani reiterated the need for radical solutions to deep-rooted issues and emphasized the importance of preventing aggression and sovereignty violations. Barrack acknowledged Iraq’s significant role in resolving regional problems, reducing tensions, supporting dialogue, and combating terrorism.
