Baghdad:According to Iraqi News Agency, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, Head of the Reconstruction Coalition, emphasized the continuation of Iraqi-US cooperation within the Strategic Framework Agreement during a meeting with Abbas Kadhim, Director of the Iraq Initiative at the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington.

The discussion focused on regional developments and their impact on Iraq, including the ongoing Gulf conflict and its ramifications at local and regional levels. They also addressed political and economic conditions, highlighting the need to maintain Iraq’s stability and enhance its ability to respond to regional changes.

Al-Sudani and Kadhim talked about the future of Iraqi-US relations following the conclusion of the International Coalition’s mission and the completion of the US troop withdrawal on September 30. They explored reorganization strategies for the bilateral relationship, aiming to align with mutual interests while preserving Iraqi sovereignty.

Al-Sudani noted Iraq’s potential to play a pivotal role post-conflict by leveraging its current stability and available plans to strengthen its regional and international standing. He emphasized expanding cooperation with the United States in economic, technological, scientific, and cultural sectors.

He also highlighted the importance of activating agreements signed between the two countries in various fields and continuing cooperation in non-security areas, as established by the Strategic Framework Agreement. This approach aims to provide sustainable benefits for Iraq and positively influence its relations with other countries in the region.
