Wasit: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has announced the launch of Iraq's first real estate developer project by offering serviced residential lands at symbolic prices, marking a significant step toward addressing the country's housing crisis. The initiative was revealed during the commencement of executive works in the Wasit City and Kut Gate residential projects, with the government aiming to grant licenses for approximately one million housing units during its tenure. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani emphasized the alignment of the housing project with the government's vision to alleviate the housing shortage, noting that a portion of the units or plots is earmarked for the local government to distribute to impoverished residents in Wasit. This strategic move seeks to address both housing and economic challenges by fostering the development of residential cities, which, in turn, would catalyze a national industry capable of supplying construction materials domestically and creatin g job opportunities for graduates. Al-Sudani directed all governorates to expedite preparations for investing in this novel approach to developing residential plots. He underscored the importance of adhering to high-precision specifications for any government or private sector project, ensuring quality and sustainability in the housing sector.
