Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani has instructed governorates to initiate pioneering projects in renewable energy aimed at achieving technical advancements.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani chaired a meeting of the National Renewable Energy Team, which was attended by several governors and members of the Electricity File Committee. The meeting focused on exploring alternatives in smart and renewable energy, following the Prime Minister's directives to implement pioneering projects that alleviate pressure on the national grid during peak times. The projects will primarily rely on solar energy and other technological solutions for renewable energy.
The discussions at the meeting also covered strategies for enhancing energy input and addressing energy loss by integrating solar energy production into the national grid at low and medium voltage levels. Al-Sudani emphasized the need for governorates to launch these projects to achieve technical results and reduce energy losses. The aim is to extend these successful experiments to other governorates while evaluating the projects' economic feasibility to bolster the national electricity grid.
