Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the urgency of completing projects at the West Qurna and Oreido oil fields by the Russian company Lukoil.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s media office released a statement detailing that Al-Sudani met with Vagit Alekperov, President of Lukoil, along with the Russian ambassador to Baghdad and several company officials from Iraq and the Middle East. During the meeting, Al-Sudani was informed about Lukoil’s plans to enhance production at the West Qurna field in Basra Governorate and the Oreido field, which is located between the governorates of Dhi Qar and Muthanna.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of hastening the completion of these projects to ensure the supply of crude oil and natural gas to power plants. Lukoil presented the main challenges and obstacles affecting their projects in Iraq, prompting Al-Sudani to instruct the Ministry of Oil to resolve these issues and make necessary decisions to facilitate the projects’ progress.
