Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received an official invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to visit Tokyo. A statement from his media office indicated that the Prime Minister met today with the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, Akiro Endo, who conveyed the invitation from the Japanese government.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the invitation, emphasizing the importance and depth of Iraqi-Japanese relations and Iraq’s keenness to develop them in various fields, particularly investment and the economy. Al-Zaidi noted that Iraq attaches great importance to building sustainable economic partnerships and expanding joint cooperation in the fields of energy, technology, and development, which will contribute to building a more effective economic model. He called on Japanese companies to expand their presence and invest in various development sectors in Iraq.

For his part, the Japanese Ambassador expressed his pleasure at conveying his government’s invitation to the Prime Minister to visit Japan, stating that the visit represents an important step in strengthening bilateral relations and will open broader horizons for cooperation between the two countries, especially in the economic and investment fields. The ambassador noted that Iraq, under its new government, is witnessing economic growth and an improved investment climate, based on security and economic stability, government measures to combat corruption, and economic policies aimed at promoting development and attracting investment.
