Washington: Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington, and the consulates to provide all possible facilities to members of the Iraqi community in the United States.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Prime Minister Al-Zaidi met with various members of the Iraqi community in the United States at his residence in Washington, D.C. The attendees included businesspeople, media figures, experts, scholarship students, and religious leaders. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction at the meeting, highlighting the crucial need for the expertise and skills of Iraqi expatriates in the country's reconstruction and development efforts. He noted that Iraq's current state of stability, along with ongoing government reforms, particularly in combating corruption and fostering economic diversification, makes it an opportune time for expatriates to return.
Al-Zaidi urged Iraqi businesspeople residing in the United States to seize the investment opportunities available in Iraq across multiple sectors. He also encouraged American companies to explore the Iraqi market. The Prime Minister reiterated the government's commitment to creating a conducive environment and offering necessary facilities to ensure project success, which would support the national economy and generate employment.
The directive to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassy emphasized the provision of essential support, including expediting the issuance of passports and national identity cards for Iraqi expatriates and streamlining consular transactions.
