Baghdad: President Nizar Amedi affirmed on Sunday that the pronouncements of religious authorities are a vital source for strengthening national unity. The Presidential Media Office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that President Amedi met at Baghdad Palace with Allamah Murtadha al-Modarresi, son of Grand Ayatollah Muhammad Taqi al-Modarresi, and his accompanying delegation.

According to Iraqi News Agency, during the meeting, the President emphasized the importance of the national and humanitarian role played by religious authorities in preserving the social fabric, establishing a moderate and balanced approach, and promoting the values of understanding and solidarity, all of which contribute to safeguarding the country’s stability. He added that the national visions presented by religious authorities are a crucial resource for fostering awareness of national responsibility, strengthening trust among the people of Iraq, and enhancing societal unity and its ability to confront challenges.

For his part, Allamah Murtadha al-Mudarrisi praised the approach adopted by the President of the Republic in maintaining communication with various national activities and figures, stressing that ‘the concerted national efforts and the inspiration of moral and human values represent a basis for facing challenges and building a future worthy of Iraqis.’
