Ammar al-Hakim Highlights Iraq’s Recovery and Security Priorities


Baghdad:The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, emphasized that Sovereignty Day marks Iraq’s recovery and the conclusion of the terrorism era. He commended the efforts that helped alleviate the suffering of the Iraqi people, including challenges related to displacement and the destruction of cities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hakim’s media office announced that he met with William de Jong, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Iraq, at his office in Baghdad. Al-Hakim expressed gratitude for the ICRC’s congratulations on Sovereignty Day and acknowledged the end of the international coalition’s mission to combat ISIS in Iraq.

Al-Hakim outlined Iraq’s current priorities as maintaining security achievements, enhancing intelligence operations, and addressing the issue of weapons outside state control through dialogue and understanding. He reiterated his support for the ICRC’s work in Iraq and committed to removing any obstacles that might hinder i
ts operations.
