Ankara and Washington Discuss Ways to Consolidate Ceasefire in Gaza


Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed with his US counterpart, Marco Rubio, possible steps to consolidate the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussion, which took place during a phone call on Thursday, also focused on ensuring the continued delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.



The two ministers also touched upon issues related to the implementation of the Declaration of Intent signed at the Middle East Peace Summit hosted by Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. This summit took place last Monday and aimed at promoting peace in the region.



Further discussions between Fidan and Rubio covered developments in Syria, the ongoing Iranian nuclear negotiations, and the course of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
