Ankara: The Turkish-US Joint Working Group on Syria stressed the importance of preserving Syria’s territorial integrity. In a statement issued at the conclusion of its meeting in Washington, DC, the working group indicated that Ankara and Washington share a vision of “a stable Syria coexisting in peace with itself and its neighbors.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the group stated that Turkey and the United States are determined to increase cooperation and coordination regarding stability and security in Syria within the framework defined by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his US counterpart, Donald Trump. The Turkish delegation to the meeting was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yilmaz, while the US delegation was headed by Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, in the presence of Turkish Ambassador to Washington Sedat ‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦€š¬…€œnal and US Ambassador to Ankara Thomas Joseph Barrack.

The group said in its statement: “The two delegations discussed the two countries’ shared priorities regarding Syria, including lifting sanctions in line with Trump’s directives, and combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.” It added: “Turkey and the United States share a vision of a stable Syria coexisting peacefully with itself and its neighbors. This will also enable millions of displaced Syrians to return to their homes.”

It noted that Ankara and Washington emphasize the importance of preserving Syria’s territorial integrity, emphasizing that “a stable and unified Syria that does not provide a haven for terrorist organizations will contribute to supporting regional security and prosperity.” This meeting is of great importance given that it was held after a direct meeting between Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa and US President Donald Trump in Saudi Arabia, and the latter’s announcement of his intention to lift sanctions imposed on Damascus.
