Arab Creators Union Joins Global Digital Dialogue at WSIS

Geneva: The Arab Creators Union, an affiliate of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, took part in the World Conference on the Information Society (WSIS), organized by the United Nations and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva. This conference will continue until July 10. The Union joined the event upon invitation from the United Nations to showcase its initiatives in digital transformation and the empowerment of women and girls.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dr. Ahmed Nour, President of the Arab Creators and Media Union, announced that the Union participated in the session titled "Women and Girls: Makers of Digital Change." The delegation included figures such as Dr. Adel Al-Marzouki, Dr. Adel Al-Masiri, and Dr. Narmin Salim, who serves as the Secretary-General of the Union and its Permanent Representative to the United Nations. During the session, Dr. Salim highlighted the Union's efforts in digital transformation, urging the empowerment of women and girls through digital knowledge and skills to enable them to become decision-making partners. She introduced the Teleectual Property Verification (IPV) platform, aimed at documenting and safeguarding intellectual property rights of digital content.

The session put forward recommendations aimed at enhancing digital literacy, promoting responsible AI education, and incorporating digital safety into school curricula. It also emphasized the need for international collaboration to combat digital violence against women and girls, support innovation and women's leadership, and develop digital environments that protect creativity and intellectual property rights. This included showcasing the ITU's "IPV" platform for safeguarding intellectual property in digital spaces.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Salim underscored that empowering women and girls is crucial for sustainable development and economic growth, positioning them as future leaders capable of shaping the digital world's future.
