Arab Information Ministers Designate Future Media Capitals and Highlight Al-Quds Importance


Cairo: The Council of Arab Information Ministers, during its 55th regular session at the League of Arab States headquarters, approved Rabat as the Arab Media Capital for 2026, Doha for 2027, and Damascus for 2028.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council stressed the significance of including a dedicated theme on Al-Quds Al-Sharif in programs for these designations, highlighting its spiritual, cultural, and architectural importance as an Arab and Islamic city. The final statement urged Morocco to develop a comprehensive program for Rabat’s 2026 celebration, ensuring activities focus on al-Quds. It also called for increased attention from Arab media organizations on the cause of al-Quds, in line with the resolution recognizing it as the ‘eternal capital of Arab media.’



The Council also praised Kuwait’s efforts as the 2025 Arab Media Capital and requested a detailed report on activities conducted during the year to serve as a reference for future experiences.
