Arab League Highlights Need for Comprehensive Transitional Process in Syria


Riyadh: The Arab League confirmed that the meetings hosted by the Saudi capital, Riyadh, stressed the importance of a safe, comprehensive, and representative transitional process in Syria without exclusion. The official spokesman for the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Jamal Rushdi, stated that the meetings “addressed the Syrian situation and how to support Damascus in going through a new phase that is witnessing a difficult transition.”



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Rushdi explained that the current situation in Syria “is fraught with many major challenges,” which requires supporting it “to achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people after a long period of suffering.” The Arab League clarified that the discussions highlighted the necessity of a transition process that maintains Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and identity.



He pointed out that the meetings “witnessed transparent and frank dialogues that reflected a sincere desire from everyone” for the future Syria to be a positive member of the Arab, regional, and international community.
