Arab League Praises UN’s Approval of Two-State Solution Draft Resolution

New york: The Arab League has expressed approval of the United Nations General Assembly’s significant adoption of a draft resolution that supports the New York Declaration, issued last July. This resolution focuses on the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit emphasized that the strong vote in favor of the resolution indicates a growing international agreement on the need to implement the two-state solution. He stated that countries opposing the resolution are positioned on “the wrong side of history.”

Aboul Gheit noted that the General Assembly’s endorsement of the resolution bolsters the outcomes of the conference on the two-state solution’s implementation. It also amplifies global interest and momentum, particularly as several countries plan to recognize the Palestinian state in the coming days, aligning with a summit-level conference scheduled for September 22.
