Basra:Police in Basra have arrested two individuals suspected of stealing women’s handbags following an armed clash in the al-Ma’qal area.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Governorate Police Command announced that intensive investigations, intelligence efforts, and surveillance had led to the identification of the suspects. Their identities were confirmed, arrest warrants issued, and their location determined.

During the operation to apprehend the suspects, one opened fire, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. The area was quickly secured, and the situation was brought under control, leading to the arrest of the suspects under Article (443) of the Penal Code.

Additionally, police reported finding a pistol and drug paraphernalia on one of the suspects. Legal action was taken against him under Article (24) of the Weapons Law.
