Armed Forces Motorcade Marks Anniversary of Imam Khomeini’s Return to Iran

Tehran: Motorcyclists from Iran’s Armed Forces held a joint parade from Mehrabad Airport to Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery on February 1, 2026, to commemorate the historic return of Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution, to Tehran in 1979.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the parade was organized to honor the significant event in Iran’s history, marking the anniversary of Imam Khomeini’s return from exile, which eventually led to the overthrow of the Pahlavi monarchy and the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The route from Mehrabad Airport to Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery holds historical importance as it mirrors the path taken by Imam Khomeini upon his return to Iran after years of exile.
