Yerevan: Minister of Agriculture Abbas Jabr al-Maliki discussed several issues with President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturian, most notably the agriculture and transportation sectors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Ministry of Agriculture revealed that Minister of Agriculture Abbas Jabr al-Maliki arrived in Armenia leading an Iraqi delegation to attend the Joint Governmental Committee on Economic Cooperation between Armenia and Iraq. During his visit, he met with President Vahagn Khachaturian.

In their meeting, Minister al-Maliki highlighted the significance of the Iraqi-Armenian Economic Forum held in Yerevan, describing it as a vital platform for enhancing relationships among economic entities and forging practical agreements. He stressed the necessity of organizing such events regularly to widen the scope of cooperation.

The discussion also centered on the agricultural sector and the importance of resuming direct flights and easing shipping processes to bolster trade and economic relations. Additionally, they explored enhancing mutual investment opportunities and activating cooperation in energy, academic education, tourism, and other areas to deepen bilateral relations.

President Khachaturian, on his part, stressed that Iraq is a crucial and dependable partner for Armenia in the Middle East. He noted that cooperation between the two nations is progressing steadily in trade, economy, education, culture, humanitarian sectors, and information technology.
