Arms Dealer Arrested in Baghdad, Weapons Cache Seized


Baghdad: An arms dealer was apprehended in the Al-Fadhiliyah area east of Baghdad, with a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition discovered inside his residence, as announced by the Baghdad Operations Command.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Baghdad Operations Command released a statement detailing the operation: “In continuation of the security operations carried out by our units to enhance security and stability in all areas of the capital, Baghdad, with the aim of pursuing outlaws and eliminating the phenomenon of loose weapons, a force from the First Federal Police Division, in cooperation with detachments from (Al-Rashad Rescue Police, Al-Khansa Police Station), and after receiving accurate intelligence information, arrested an accused arms dealer, and seized unlicensed weapons and ammunition inside his house in ‘Al-Fadhiliya’ area east of the capital, and handed him over with the seized materials to the competent authorities to complete the legal procedures against them.”

The oper
ation is part of broader efforts by Baghdad authorities to curb the unregulated spread of firearms and maintain law and order in the region. The seized weapons and ammunition were unlicensed, highlighting the illegal nature of their possession. The suspect has been turned over to the relevant authorities for further legal action.
