Baghdad: The Army Chief of Staff, General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah (Special Forces), discussed the latest developments and the withdrawal of French forces from Iraq with the French Chief of the Defence Staff, General Fabien Mandon.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Ministry of Defence noted that “Army Chief of Staff General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah (Special Forces) held a phone call on Monday evening with his French counterpart, General Fabien Mandon. During the call, they reviewed the latest developments and current events, and discussed the withdrawal of the remaining French forces present in Iraq.”

The statement added that “both sides emphasized the importance of bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the French Republic, as well as the necessity of continuing cooperation and joint coordination in a manner that aligns with the developments of the current phase and serves the mutual interests of the two friendly nations.”

For his part, the Army Chief of Staff expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the French side for the support and assistance provided to the Iraqi Army.

For his part, the French Chief of the Defence Staff affirmed continued support for the valiant Iraqi Army and the strengthening of cooperation ties between the two sides.
