Baghdad: Two arrest warrants have been issued against Ahmed Al-Asadi on charges of illicit enrichment and money laundering. The Baghdad/Karkh Court of Appeals issued these warrants on Sunday for the former Minister of Labor, Ahmed al-Asadi.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the first warrant authorizes judicial officers and police personnel to arrest Ahmed Jassim Saber al-Asadi. This warrant addresses crimes involving direct benefits derived from contracts and projects he was involved in as the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs. It alleges that al-Asadi passed contracts in violation of the law to obtain benefits for himself and others, citing Article 319 of the Penal Code No. 111 of 1969, as amended.

The second arrest warrant pertains to allegations of illicit enrichment. The warrant states that al-Asadi could not prove the legitimacy of the increase in his assets, as outlined in Article 19/Second of the Integrity and Illicit Enrichment Commission Law No. 30 of 2011, as amended.
