Hasakah: The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) announced on Wednesday that they had thwarted a mass escape attempt from al-Hol camp in the Hasakah countryside, northeastern Syria, by 56 people. The Asayish stated in a statement that “a group of individuals attempted to escape using a large Hyundai Entourage vehicle. Suspicious movements were detected inside the camp, before the vehicle was stopped as it attempted to cross the main gate.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the statement added that “all detainees were transferred to the relevant security authorities to open investigations and uncover the circumstances of the operation.” This development comes within the framework of heightened security measures within the camp, which houses families of ISIS members, amid repeated attempts to escape or disrupt security.
