Maysan: An officer in the Anti-Narcotics Division in Al-Majjar Al-Kabir district, south of Maysan, was injured today in an assassination attempt carried out by unknown assailants while he was in the district.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a security source revealed that the perpetrators opened fire directly on the officer before fleeing. He was transferred to the hospital for treatment, and his condition is stable.

The source indicated that security forces have begun investigation procedures and are gathering information to track down those involved, stressing the continued efforts to confront drug trafficking and distribution networks in the province.
