Rybakina became the first Kazakh player to reach the world number one ranking and the 30th player of any nationality to achieve this feat since the WTA rankings began in 1975. Her victory over Sabalenka in the final denied the latter a third consecutive US Open title. Sabalenka dropped to second place, while American Jessica Pegula came in third, followed by her compatriot Coco Gauff in fourth.

Russia’s Mira Andreeva and the Czech Republic’s Linda Noskova maintained their fifth and sixth positions, respectively, while Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina moved up two places to seventh. American Ben Shelton jumped five places to reach a career-high ranking of No. 4 after reaching his first Grand Slam final, while Russian Daniil Medvedev climbed one spot to No. 6, and American Frances Tiafoe moved up four places to No. 8 after reaching the semifinals for the third time in New York.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic dropped seven places to No. 12 after his first-round exit, marking the first time in over eight years that he has been out of the top ten.
