Baghouz: The Ministry of Interior announced the successful thwarting of an attempt to smuggle 30,000 Captagon pills across the Syrian border.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Brigadier General Maqdad Miri, the Interior Ministry spokesman, stated that the Border Forces Command’s continuous efforts to combat cross-border drug trafficking led to the interception. The Second Regiment of the Border Forces Commando Brigade detected the smuggling attempt across the Euphrates River into Iraq’s Baghouz area.

Brigadier General Miri explained that thermal cameras played a crucial role in monitoring the smuggled substances. The pills were concealed inside plastic containers, packed in bags, and camouflaged with reeds. Despite these measures, the alertness of the Border Forces personnel ensured the operation’s failure.
