Maysan: Maysan Police successfully thwarted an attempted kidnapping of a minor girl in Al-Amara, the capital of the governorate, apprehending the suspects after an extensive pursuit.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Maysan Police Command issued a statement detailing the operation: “Immediately upon receiving a report of the incident, a joint task force was formed, the governorate’s entrances and exits were closed, and search and investigation operations were intensified.”
The statement further explained that after reviewing surveillance footage and identifying the specifications of the vehicle involved in the crime, the vehicle was monitored, pursued, and the suspects were cornered and arrested. The girl was found to be in good health and unharmed.
The accused have confessed to committing the kidnapping and were arrested under Article (422) of the Penal Code, pending their referral to the judiciary.
