Azerbaijani Foreign Minister to Visit Baghdad for Signing of Memoranda


Baghdad: The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister is scheduled to visit Baghdad in the first week of next month to sign several memoranda of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iraq.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs detailed that the third round of political consultations between the Republic of Iraq and the Republic of Azerbaijan took place in Baghdad. The meeting was led by Mohammed Hussein Mohammed Bahr al-Ulum, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations, and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Deputy Foreign Minister Yalcin Rzayev, at the Ministry’s headquarters.



During these consultations, both sides explored avenues to bolster relations across political, economic, and cultural domains, alongside discussing regional and international issues of mutual interest. The statement highlighted the preparations for the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister’s visit, during which multiple memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed to enhance bilateral cooperation.



Both parties stressed the significance of ongoing coordination and collaboration in international arenas and the support for each other’s nominations. Bahr al-Ulum emphasized the historical ties binding Iraq and Azerbaijan, expressing Iraq’s commitment to fostering these relations for the benefit of both nations.



Rzayev, representing Azerbaijan, acknowledged Iraq’s supportive roles and reiterated Azerbaijan’s intent to deepen its partnership with Iraq across multiple sectors.
