Babylon: In a meticulously coordinated operation, Babylon police successfully arrested a suspect from Baghdad who was found in possession of valuable antiquities. The arrest took place in the northern part of the province, showcasing effective collaboration among various law enforcement units.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Babylon Police Command revealed that a joint force comprising the Organized Crime Directorate in northern Babylon, the Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Department in Al-Iskandariya, and the Al-Iskandariya Police Station executed the operation. The suspect was under close surveillance before being lured into the old district of Al-Iskandariya. There, he was apprehended with four antiquities, including two small statues and two ancient coins.

Major General Ali Kamil Al-Hasnawi, Commander of Babylon Police, emphasized the commitment of security forces to protect Iraq’s cultural heritage. He highlighted that such antiquities are integral to the country’s identity and history. The success of the operation was attributed to the seamless cooperation and coordination between police and intelligence units.

The police statement further informed that the suspect has been handed over to judicial authorities for the continuation of legal proceedings.
