Baghdad Environment Directorate Inspects Bob Al-Sham and Al-Tha’aliba Waste Station


Baghdad: The Baghdad Environment Directorate at the Ministry of Environment recently conducted an inspection of the Bob Al-Sham and Al-Tha’aliba waste transfer station. This field visit was part of the Directorate’s ongoing efforts to monitor landfills and transfer stations, ensuring they comply with existing environmental regulations and standards.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director of the Baghdad Environment Directorate, Sadiq Al-Moussawi, stated that the inspection identified several environmental violations. Notably, there was a significant accumulation of waste awaiting removal and transport to the Al-Naba’i landfill. Additionally, the presence of individuals scavenging waste at the site was observed.



Al-Moussawi further explained that the Service Activities Monitoring Division documented these violations and related data on the environmental inspection form. This documentation is a preliminary step towards implementing the necessary legal and regulatory measures against the site, as per the applicable environmental instructions and regulations.
