Baghdad: The Baghdad Environment Directorate at the Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the Technical Department and supported by the Rusafa Environmental Police, has identified environmental violations at two industrial facilities in the Zaafaraniya area. Legal measures have been initiated as part of an effort to enforce compliance with environmental standards and regulations.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Director of the Baghdad Environment Directorate, Sadiq al-Moussawi, stated that the actions taken included issuing a warning notice to a cigarette manufacturing company for not meeting environmental standards and lacking essential industrial waste treatment units, such as waste sedimentation basins. Additionally, legal proceedings have been initiated against an ice factory for operating without the necessary environmental approval.
The Directorate has reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing monitoring of industrial activities, aiming to reduce sources of pollution and ensure adherence to environmental requirements.
