Baghdad: The Baghdad Environment Directorate has taken decisive legal action by closing down two industrial facilities in the Karkh and Rusafa districts due to non-compliance with essential environmental requirements and regulations. This move is part of an ongoing effort to enforce environmental legislation and curtail pollution, thereby safeguarding public health and environmental safety.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the closures included a plastics company situated in the Awairij Industrial Area. This operation was executed in collaboration with the Karkh Environmental Police, highlighting the company's failure to adhere to environmental standards. Additionally, a used tire recycling plant in the Baladiyat area was shut down for operating without the requisite environmental approvals. This action was coordinated with the Technical Department of the Central Region Environmental Protection and Improvement Directorate, along with the Rusafa Environmental Police.

The Baghdad Environment Directorate has reiterated its commitment to conducting continuous inspections of non-compliant activities. The directorate emphasized that it will take all necessary legal measures to ensure adherence to environmental laws, aiming to maintain environmental integrity and protect public health.
