Baghdad: The capital city of Iraq, Baghdad, recently played host to the Dell Technologies International Data Innovation Conference, which brought together government officials, parliamentary members, academic figures, businessmen, and investors from Iraq’s private sector. The purpose of the conference was to explore the latest developments and technologies in modern information systems presented by Dell.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dell experts highlighted the significant role of technology in steering digital transformation in Iraq, emphasizing the country’s rapid advancements in this area. Sami Samara, Dell’s Regional Director in Iraq, stated, “We are contributing with public and private sector institutions to develop technology in Iraq, as well as helping develop plans and strategies for digital transformation and defensive plans against cybersecurity attacks.”
Samara further explained that Dell is leveraging its extensive expertise from regions such as the Americas, Europe, and Asia to enhance the Iraqi market. This involves collaboration with local partners and both public and private sectors to drive competitive growth in technology and artificial intelligence. He noted the unique requirements of various sectors like banking, communications, health, and defense, underscoring Iraq’s significant strides in technology and the government’s clear support.
In an interview, Ziad Al-Ani, Managing Director of Global Technology Company, remarked that the event reflects ongoing collaborative efforts rather than the start of new initiatives. He noted that the Iraqi government’s focus on technological development has attracted international companies to the market, allowing them to operate directly in Iraq.
Al-Ani added that the government’s commitment to digital transformation and infrastructure has been pivotal in presenting Iraq as a serious player in the global technology landscape. He also highlighted the emerging young generation, aged 22-26, as a driving force in Iraq’s digital transformation, showcasing the nation’s human potential and economic strength.
