Baghdad: The 27th Baghdad International Book Fair commenced at the Baghdad International Fair grounds with a remarkable participation of six hundred publishing houses from 23 Arab and foreign countries. The event is set to showcase an extensive range of literary, intellectual, and scientific publications, alongside hosting seminars, panel discussions, and cultural events, bringing together writers, publishers, and intellectuals from across the globe.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the fair provides a vast cultural space that unites readers, publishers, writers, and intellectuals, offering them access to a variety of publications and fostering cultural exchange and openness to both Arab and international experiences. Participants have noted the fair’s role in providing a valuable opportunity for readers, students, and researchers to discover new publications and benefit from the accompanying cultural and artistic gatherings.

Ahmed Al-Radhi, Director of the Baghdad International Book Fair, highlighted that this year’s event features a cultural and artistic program throughout its duration, including seminars, panel discussions, and direct meetings with the public. Notable guests such as Egyptian actor Bayoumi Fouad, Syrian actors Ayman Zeidan, Abbas Al-Nouri, and Fayez Qazq, along with other prominent Arab cultural figures, will participate in public meetings and lectures.

Iyad Hassan of Nousous Publishers remarked on the fair’s importance as a cultural hub, emphasizing its role in maintaining a consistent connection with the Iraqi reading public through diverse publications in philosophy, psychology, and various literary genres. Hassan highlighted the unique opportunity the fair offers for direct interaction between publishing houses and the audience.

Ali Hamid of Akad Publishing House shared that the fair provides an excellent platform for presenting English books across various fields, catering to the interests of readers and lovers of global culture. The fair allows the publishing house to meet its audience and connect with readers seeking knowledge transcending languages and borders.

Citizen Mohammed Wathiq expressed that the fair is a significant event eagerly awaited by readers, offering access to publications not readily available throughout the year and opportunities to engage with writers and intellectuals. University student Mona Ali emphasized the importance of the fair for students and researchers, providing them access to academic and specialized publications and the chance to engage with a diverse cultural community.
