Baghdad: Baghdad Operations Command forces arrested a number of suspects, including a “sorcerer” and other “foreigners” for violating the terms and conditions of the Residency and Citizenship Department.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command stated in a statement that, in accordance with the security plan designed to enhance security and stability, pursue organized and criminal gangs, and monitor and scrutinize the foreign labor file, formations from the 6th and 17th Infantry Divisions and the Commando Brigade, with the support of intelligence agencies, were able to arrest a number of suspects under various legal provisions. These included one person accused of “sorcery,” others charged with drug trafficking and abuse, and involvement in armed conflicts. The arrests included foreigners violating the terms and conditions of the Residency and Citizenship Department. The arrests were carried out in the areas of Shuhada (Abu Ghraib), Badr neighborhood, Al-Adwaniyah checkpoint, Al-Jawhara residential complex, Al-Dhubat (Al-Yusufiyah) neighborhood, Al-Saad (Al-Mahmoudiyah), and Al-Tarmia (Al-Tarmiyah) on the Karkh side.
The command clarified that the suspects and the seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities to complete legal proceedings against them.
