Baghdad: The Baghdad Operations Command has announced decisive actions against unlicensed manufacturing operations, resulting in the closure of two factories and the dismantling of eight unauthorized metal smelting sites. In addition, six individuals have been apprehended in connection with these violations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command’s recent activities are part of an initiative led by a committee established under Diwani Order (241285), which seeks to mitigate environmental pollution from gas emissions and odors linked to production processes. The committee, with support from the National Security Service, the Rusafa Environmental Police, the Rusafa Environment Directorate, and the Al-Shaab Municipality, conducted inspections and enforcement actions. These efforts culminated in the closure of two unlicensed factories producing household utensils, which were found in violation of existing regulations.

The committee also targeted eight metal smelting sites that failed to meet environmental standards, posing risks to public health and safety. These sites and factories were located in the Sabaa Qusour area, east of Baghdad. The operations underscore the Iraqi government’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges and enforcing compliance with regulations designed to protect the health of its citizens.
