Baghdad: The Baghdad Operations Command announced the closure of eight metal smelters and furnaces for violating environmental and health regulations on both sides of Karkh and Rusafa. This move is part of efforts to address environmental concerns linked to industrial emissions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command stated that the closures are in line with directives from the Prime Minister, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The initiative aims to mitigate environmental pollution caused by gas emissions and odors from production processes, while safeguarding the health and safety of citizens.

The Command further detailed that the Diwani Order Committee No. (241285), in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and municipal departments, successfully shut down the non-compliant factories located in Awerij, Kasra, and Atash. These facilities were operating without the necessary official approvals and failed to meet safety and security standards.

Baghdad Operations Command affirmed its commitment to ongoing inspections and the closure of all unlicensed facilities that breach environmental and health regulations.
