Baghdad: The Baghdad Operations Command has taken decisive action by closing two factories and a landfill site, along with arresting several violators in the northern part of the capital.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command issued a statement emphasizing that these measures were implemented to safeguard the health and safety of citizens. The committee of Diwani Order (241285) has been actively working to reduce environmental pollution caused by the emission of gases and odors associated with production processes. The committee has been tasked with monitoring and auditing factories, plants, and metal smelting furnaces that operate without licenses and are in violation of regulations.

In collaboration with units from the National Security Service, the Rusafa Environmental Police, the Baghdad Environment, and the First Federal Police Division, the committee responded to appeals from residents of the Bismayah residential complex. As a result, they successfully closed two unlicensed factories-one for producing mastic material and another for shredding and recycling waste. Additionally, the landfill site in the Naba’i area was shut down for failing to comply with the regulations and conditions set by the Ministries of Health and Environment.

The statement further mentioned that those arrested have been referred to the appropriate authorities to complete the legal procedures against them.
