Baghdad: The Baghdad Operations Command has announced the closure and removal of nine metal smelting sites located southeast of the capital. This action also included the arrest of several owners for violating established regulations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the operation was executed following Committee Order No. 241285. The effort was a coordinated move involving the National Security Service, the Rusafa Environmental Police, the Baghdad Environment Police, and the Nahrawan Violations Division. Their primary task was inspecting and shutting down unlicensed factories, workshops, and metal smelting furnaces.

The committee successfully closed and dismantled nine metal smelting furnace sites in the Nahrawan area. These sites were found to be in violation of current terms and regulations, posing risks to the health and safety of local citizens due to harmful emissions, gases, and odors produced during their operations.
