Baghdad: Lieutenant General Walid Al-Tamimi, Commander of Baghdad Operations, conducted a field tour of the axes and routes used by pilgrims, as the Arbaeen pilgrimage reaches its peak. The Commander issued several directives aimed at ensuring the smooth flow of pilgrim traffic and maintaining safety throughout the pilgrimage process.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Tamimi emphasized the importance of preventing all types of vehicles from passing along the pilgrims’ routes and closely monitoring the service convoys deployed in the area. He instructed that these convoys should not enter the pilgrims’ route and highlighted the necessity of ensuring the safety of food and beverages provided during the pilgrimage.

The Commander also underscored the need for the continued deployment of emergency and traffic police detachments on highways. He called for accountability for those who violate speed limits set by the General Traffic Directorate, as part of efforts to preserve the lives of citizens.

Al-Tamimi further directed a full mobilization of the “supply and transportation commands” and instructed that all vehicles equipped for transporting pilgrims be prepared for the reverse convoying operation, ensuring a safe and organized return for the pilgrims.
