Iraq and the European Union discuss strengthening bilateral relations

Baghdad The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Brussels, Ahmed Tahsin Berwari, met with the Chairperson of the Committee on Relations with Iraq in the European Parliament, Swedish MP Sarah Skidel, at the European Parliament headquarters in Brussels.

During the meeting, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they discussed prospects for cooperation between the two sides and ways to enhance the work of the Iraq Committee in the European Parliament in a manner that serves the development of bilateral relations and the implementation of mutual commitments in the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Iraq and the European Union.

The two sides discussed Iraq’s relations with its regional surroundings, and its position on developments on the international scene.

For her part, Skidel welcomed the Ambassador, wishing him success in his new mission as Iraq’s Ambassador to the European Union, stressing her determination to enhance cooperation between Iraq and the European Union and work to achieve the parliamentary visit that a European parliamentary delegation headed to Iraq to hold the seventh parliamentary meeting between the European Parliament and the Iraqi House of Representatives.
