Baghdad: The Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced today that the capital, Baghdad, will host the Baghdad International Energy Forum on September 6-7, with high-level participation including OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais, energy ministers from friendly and sister countries, senior government officials, and global experts in the fields of energy, oil, and economics.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the forum, organized under the auspices of the Iraqi State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO), will welcome a wide range of executives from major international energy companies, including those operating in Iraq and others interested in expanding their investments in the Iraqi market.

The ministry emphasized that this high-level participation reflects Iraq’s growing role as a key player in the global energy market, and underscores Baghdad’s position as a platform for constructive dialogue between oil-producing and consuming nations amid evolving geopolitical and economic challenges.

According to the statement, the forum aims to address major energy issues including supply security, sustainability, and the energy transition, through a series of discussion panels and workshops that will bring together policymakers, industry representatives, and international experts.

The Ministry of Oil stressed that hosting this forum with such distinguished international presence reflects the Iraqi government’s policy of openness and cooperation, and further strengthens the country’s standing as a reliable and influential partner in shaping the future of regional and global energy.
